Traveling During Eid Al Adha? Here’s What You Need to Know About Hamad International Airport

As the Eid Al Adha holiday approaches, Hamad International Airport has issued a travel advisory to ensure a smooth and seamless travel experience for passengers. With high volumes of departure and arrival expected between 15 June and 10 July 2023, it is essential for travelers to plan their trips accordingly. In this blog post, we will provide you with all the necessary information and tips to make your journey through Hamad International Airport hassle-free.

  1. Utilize Short-Term Parking: To accommodate the increased passenger traffic during Eid Al Adha, Hamad International Airport advises passengers to use the short-term parking facilities. During the period from 15 to 30 June, the first 60 minutes of parking will be free of charge. After that, standard parking rates will apply. From 6 to 10 July, the same free 60 minutes will be reinstated during specified time frames. Remember to adhere to the parking regulations to avoid any inconvenience.
  2. Public Transportation Options: Consider taking advantage of the multiple public transportation options available at the airport, such as taxis, buses, and the metro. These options can provide convenient and efficient transportation to and from the airport. Plan your journey accordingly and check the schedules to ensure a smooth transition.
  3. Arrival and Departure Times: To avoid any last-minute rush, it is recommended that passengers arrive at least 3 hours prior to their flight departure time, unless otherwise specified by their respective airline. This will allow sufficient time for check-in, security checks, and boarding procedures. Be mindful of the check-in and boarding gate closure times to ensure you don’t miss your flight.
  4. Early Check-In and Dedicated Services: Passengers flying with Qatar Airways to various destinations (excluding the United States and Canada) have the option of early check-in from 12 hours to 4 hours prior to their flight departure time. Look for row 11 located at the Vertical Circulation Node (VCN) for this facility. Additionally, Qatar Airways passengers traveling for Hajj can avail dedicated check-in services at row 6. Remember to adhere to the specific baggage restrictions and guidelines for Hajj travelers.
  5. Self-Service Check-In and Bag-Drop Facilities: Save time and streamline your check-in process by using the self-service check-in and bag-drop facilities available at Hamad International Airport. These convenient services allow you to check-in, print boarding passes and bag tags, tag your bags, and drop them at the bag drop before proceeding to immigration. Take advantage of these facilities to expedite your journey.
  6. Security Guidelines: Ensure a smooth passage through security checks by adhering to the guidelines provided by the airport. Make sure you are not carrying any prohibited items, such as liquids, aerosols, and gels, exceeding the specified limit. Prepare your liquids by packing them in a clear, re-sealable plastic bag, with each container being 100ml or less. Remember to remove electronic items larger than mobile phones from your bags and place them in the trays provided for X-ray screening.
  7. Prohibited Items: Be aware that small vehicles powered by lithium batteries, such as hoverboards, are not allowed for carriage. Make sure you comply with the regulations to avoid any inconvenience during your journey.

Hamad International Airport is preparing for the busy Eid Al Adha holiday period and wants to ensure a seamless travel experience for all passengers. By following the advice provided in this travel advisory, including utilizing short-term parking, using public transportation options, arriving in advance, and taking advantage of the airport’s facilities and services, you can make your journey through the airport smooth and stress-free. Have a wonderful trip and enjoy your Eid Al Adha
