The 9th edition of Halal Qatar festival is being received well among residents. The festival celebrating local animals and culture of sheep-rearing and goat-rearing will conclude today, 9th February at Katara Cultural Village. On the last day, the festival will have many competitions for livestock which include categories like most beautiful local camel among others.
There will also be a weight competition where participants can register their animal online. Among the most popular competition was the small shepherd competition. Children of the age of 10-14 participated and prepared goats’ milk and chose best wool. Amongst all the first, second and third prize were bagged by Ghanem Khadr Al Anazi, Rashid Mahmoud Al Enazi, and Saud Abdullah Al Anazi respectively.
Visitors from different nationalities and groups as well as families and children also came to witness the festival. Children could also ride rubber sculptures along with a chance to ride horses and Arabian camels. The festival also showcased traditional sweets of Qatar. Residents and visitors enjoyed the famous eateries and appreciated it a lot. Dishes like marqouqa, biryani, porridge and other modern items were also served along with juices and sweets.
Right from the first day, Halal Qatar festival has become a hub in Katara with activities like Al Mazad : public auction of Halal(goats and sheep), Al Izab : barns showcasing Syrian and Arab sheep, and Al Mazain : most beautiful goat and sheep competition.
