The Qatari Publishers and Distributors Forum will organize a ‘Children’s Literature Fair’ from November 17 to 20, 2021 at the Tawar Mall and is considered one of the first fair to specialise in children’s literature in Qatar.
The organisers held a press conference today, November 15, 2021, to announce the fair’s logo and other details of the event, which coincides with World Children’s Day, celebrated on November 20 annually.
The fair will have several activities, including a display of children’s books, workshops, and professional workshops for publishers in the field of children’s books, theatrical performances, cinematic show, competitions with gifts, in addition to many other engaging events
Amna Mohamed Abugrgaa, the fair coordinator said that “the fair aims to encourage the publishing and distribution industry, through displaying the publications of Qatari publishing and distribution houses in this field and encourage reading among children.”
The exhibition seeks to prepare a generation capable of reading and writing, in harmony with Arab and Islamic national identity, and able to coexist with the cultural diversity of the social fabric in the State of Qatar and the world.
One of the main goals of the forum is to publish and distribute the works of Qatari authors locally, regionally, and internationally, aiding their participation in local and international publishing, distribution events and bookfairs in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.
Several entities including Wijdan Cultural Center, Theater Affairs Center, Qatar Museums, local publishing and distribution houses, Qatar Reads (part of Qatar Foundation), and Qatar Literature’s center will participate in the fair.
