Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge or DDLJ as most know it, is a movie worth reckoning. Director and birthday boy Aditya Chopra directed it when he was just 23 years old. It broke quite a few records in India as well as overseas. 1. Name Game
The movie initially had a lot of trouble getting a name. none suited the ever-so-perfect Aditya’s tone. Finally, Anupam Kher’s wife Kirron stepped in to give the current title of “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’.
2. Hollywood-Bollywood
The Chopras wanted to cast a Hollywood actor for the role of Raj and they had even zeroed in on Tom Cruise. As luck will have it, the story would have needed too many tweaks which made Adi rethink the casting.
3. Casting Confusion
Actors like Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan had already sampled the role and rejected it before it came to SRK. Thankfully, he agreed to it and even Won the Best Actor Award for the year.
4. Featuring The Directors
The movie has cameos of two magnanimous directors as side-casts. One, as we know, is Shahrukh’s best friend Karan Johar and the other was Arjun Sablok. Both became pretty famous in direction afterwards.
5. Khan Vs Khan
The movie did so well, that it overshadowed the efforts of RGV for ‘Rangeela’. This led to Aamir Khan missing out on the Best Actor award as mentioned and the actor vowed to not return to Filmfare.
