AGE THRESHOLD NOW 40 YEARS FOR RECEIVING COVID19 VACCINATION

As per the new mandate by Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) age limit for Covid-19 vaccine eligibility has now been reduced to 40 years.

This change has been initiated to carry forward the phased rollout of the National Covid-19 Vaccination Programmer. The mandate till now prioritises the members of society who come under high-vulnerability and more at risk from COVID-19. Previous to this the threshold for registration for vaccination was 50 years.

The one who have registered online via the MoPH vaccine registration service and fall under the 40 years and above age will be given priority. They will get appointments too within the next 3-4 weeks to come and get the vaccine.

For now the appointment procedure is the same as before. All eligible candidate for vaccination will be connected personally by MoPH via a SMS or a call to arrange for a fixed appointment.

As per reports, more than 75000 doses have been administered since the beginning of the campaign for vulnerable population and frontline workers among other.

With this new rule the priority groups become 1) People aged 40 years of age and above irrespective of medical history of chronic diseases; 2) People who have moderate chronic medical conditions; and 3) Additional healthcare professionals and other key workers in different ministries and industries; this includes teachers and administration staff in the education sector.
