6th ANNUAL TOURISM INDUSTRY GHABGA CELEBRATES TOURISM DEVELOPMENT OF QATAR

Qatar National Tourism Council welcomed esteemed guests at the 6th Annual Tourism Industry Ramadan Ghabga bringing QNTC’s partners in the public and private sector, staff and media representatives, all under one roof.

As established, Qatar National Tourism Council’s aims to establish Qatar on the global map as a place that blends cultural authenticity and modernity, and where people of the world come together to experience unique offerings in culture, sports, business and family entertainment.

At the 6th Annual Tourism Industry Ramadan Ghabga, His Excellency Akbar al Baker, QNTC Secretary General, addressed the guests and highlighted the achievements of the tourism sector over the past period. The sector has seen a 10% increase in the number of visitors in the first quarter of 2019 compared to the same period last year.

He also shared that the number of cruise ships and passengers arriving in the country during the 2018-19 season, which ended earlier this month, has also seen a significant increase. 44 cruise ships and 140,000 visitors arriving at Doha Port, this cruise season has witnessed a growth rate of over 100% compared to the previous season.

Al Baker also congratulated members of the Qatar hospitality sector on recent rankings which were outstanding and placed the Qatari guest experience at the top of the Middle east for the second year in a row, according to the Olery Guest Experience in the Middle East Report.
