Actor Rishi Kapoor passed away today morning after battling cancer for more than 1 year. He was admitted in Shri HN Reliance Foundation where Kapoor breathed his last. The actor had an illustrious career of almost 50 years giving viewers gems like “Bobby”, “Sagar”, “Prem Rog”, and the much recent “102 Not Out”. 1. Lovestory of Rishi and Neetu
After working together on “Zahreela Insaan” Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh became good friends. It was only when they moved on to next projects did Rishi realise his love for Neetu. He even wrote her a telegram saying “yeh sikhni badi yaad aati hai”.
2. Equation with Ranbir Kapoor
The couple married in 1980 and had daughter Riddhima and son actor Ranbir. Rishi had a slightly tumultuous relationship with Ranbir especially in the early years. Ranbir confessed that once his father had slapped him for wearing shoes and entering their prayer room.
3. Vocal Presence in Songs
During the shoot of Bobby, director Raj Kapoor wanted more emotions from Rishi while singing so that it seemed realistic on-screen. He asked a young Rishi to sing at the top of his voice. The expressions that were captured since then became the bar for all actors for featuring in songs.
4. Switching Roles
In his autobiography, Rishi was candid about a lot of things. While reminiscing his days in “Khullam Khulla : Rishi Uncensored”, he spoke of he was a key element as to why Rajesh Khanna lost his role in the movie “Satyam Shivan Sundaram”.

Rishi Kapoor and Sridevi starrer “Chandni” was the actors second-leg into stardom. He had been written off by critics but when this movie crossed all numbers on the BoxOffice, Kapoor proved them all wrong. Many do not know this though that originally the role was offered to Anil Kapoor. Anil was not sure about being in a wheelchair in front of audience is the reason Rishi scored on this film.
