SPRING 2021 EXHIBITIONS ANNOUNCED BY QATAR MUSEUMS

QATAR MUSEUMS

Qatar Museums (QM) has announced that there will be several exhibitions institutions throughout spring 2021. These exhibitions will cover contemporary art, natural history and the art of collecting among many interests.

For now, the first announcement is, Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art will open “Kader Attia: On Silence” on March 7. It is a major solo exhibition dedicated to the work of the artist over the last two decades. This has been curated by Abdellah Karroum, Director of Mathaf along with Assistant Curator Lina Ramadan. 

The exhibition will have a wide range of installations. This includes a wide range of work across all media and include site-specific installations, sculptures, collages, drawings, video, and photography. The theme of On Silence is to explore postcolonial trauma and the ensuing decades of psychiatric ‘repair’ at the social and individual level. 

There are also two important commissions which will be featured in connection with Doha. 

These shall be launched in March at the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) is Mal Lawal 3.
