After conquering both Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse during a single expedition, Qatari adventurer and mountaineer Fahad Badar is set to scale Mount Vinson.
He will be skiing 110km across the South Pole and climb one of the coldest mountains on Earth, reaching the Mount Vinson on January 20, 2020, the Mount Vinson summit is known as the most remote of the Seven Summits. Bader will start his journey to Antarctica on Qatar’s national day as he plan to reach the center of the south pole by the end of the December. He is expected to reach Mount Vinson’s summit in the first week of January 2020.
In a press conference held in Doha yesterday he said “I will be climbing Mount Vinson, which is the highest mountain in Antarctica. I will do a 10- day ski with all my equipment to the center of the planet. For me, failure is not an option and I am excited for this next expedition to raise the Qatari flag high at Antarctica and inspire many others to follow suit,”
Badar made history by becoming the first Arab male to scale two peaks on the same trip when he climbed Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse in May this year. He is one of just over 30 people in the world to have made this massive accomplishment. Qatar’s Minister of Culture and Sports HE Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali honored Badar for his remarkable achievements.
