Sixth Edition of the Qatar International Boat Show

HE Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, inaugurated the sixth edition of the Qatar International Boat Show (QIBS) organized by Al Mannai Plus Events on 12th March at the Porto Arabia Marina at The Pearl– Qatar.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries and ambassadors among whom were Ibrahim Jassim Al Othman, UDC President, CEO and Board Member; Captain Mohammed Ali, Executive Director of QIG Marine Services; Fahad Zainel, Chief Corporate Services Officer at Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA).

The show will continue for 5 days, and the last day to attend is 16th March, Saturday. 106.3 FM Radio Olive and 91.7 FM Radio Suno are the official radio partners for the event.

Considered as one of its kind event in the Middle East it has more than 30 different countries participating here and showcasing boats, dhows and marine equipment as well as the best luxury yachts designed with international craftsmanship, along with accessories.

This is an ideal opportunity provided by QIBS to discover various technological innovations and a great contribution to Qatar’s tourism and exhibition industry.

In order to offer a unique experience to participating companies and visitor, QIBS will be hosting various interesting activities such as marine tours, prizes, water activities, marine races etc. A 5,000 upwards audience is expected to attend the five day event and enjoy the ambience and activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Issa Al Mannai, Chairman of Al Mannai Plus Events expressed his gratitude to His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry for honouring the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the Qatar International Boat Show.

“We are honoured with the visit of HE Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Economy and Commerce, who officially opened the sixth edition of Qatar International Boat Show, the Middle East’s most important event in the maritime sector. The Annual Boat Show not only meets the requirements of marine life enthusiasts, but it also provides an opportunity to discuss and obtain the necessary information with representatives of the Qatar Free Zone during the exhibition period,” he said.

Loay Al Dulis, CEO of Mannai Plus Events, thanked all the exhibitors for their support and confidence in organizing the event in Qatar. He added that this year’s edition will showcase luxury brands from Qatar, Germany, Italy, Turkey and Pakistan.

Speed Marine, one of the biggest exhibitors at QIBS have on display some of their finest marine equipment. “This is not our first time at the International Boat Show and we wanted to bring some of the fun stuff here for the marine enthusiasts. We have participated in many boat shows around the world and there is a great potential in Qatar for the marine business and I’m expecting an increasing number of visitors and good business during the event,” said Speed Marine Sales and Marketing Director Sevil Tonkal.

Qatar Free Zone is one of the exhibitors at the Qatar International Boat Show. Fahad Zainel, Chief Corporate Services Officer, Qatar Free Zones Authority said, “We are having a marina within one of the free zone areas and it will have direct access to the Hamadport. The purpose of the marina is to have maritime services for manufacturing and servicing the port industry. It is a massive area with over three kilometres of bay. We are having a booth at the QIBS where we are inviting investors and expatriates to come to the Qatar Free Zone and invest and start their business.”

This is a must-attend event for all boating enthusiasts and QIBS serves as an ideal maritime-industry networking platform as well as a key business driver for the marine sector.
