PEOPLE URGED TO FOLLOW COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS DURING EID HOLIDAYS

The Primary Health care Corporation (PHCC) has reiterated the importance of following precautions to keep safe and healthy during the Eid Al Adha holidays.

PHCC has advised all to adhere to precautionary measures issued by the Ministry of Public Health to prevent an increase in cases of COVID-19 during the Eid season and protect the community.

“Let’s adhere to precautionary measures including maintaining social distancing for the safety of all. Use non physical form of greeting by waving hands, nodding head or placing your hand on your chest,” said PHCC.

“When feeling sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay at home and avoid gatherings,” it said.  PHCC advised the elderly and people with chronic diseases to avoid gatherings as they are more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection.

Under the third phase of lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, indoor social gatherings are limited to 15 vaccinated people or 5 unvaccinated people or mixed groups.  Outdoor social gatherings are limited to 30 vaccinated people or 10 unvaccinated people or mixed groups.

All precautions regarding physical distancing and infection prevention and control must be complied with.

It is essential to keep 1.5 metres minimum distance between people.  No physical contact is allowed including handshakes, hugging or kissing.

In the awareness campaign on social media, PHCC also advised people to follow healthy lifestyle during the holidays.

“Eid holiday is an opportunity to engage in sport activities. Let’s replace Eid sweets with fruits and dates. We can grill or bake meat and enjoy healthy delicious meal,” said PHCC.
