Meet Qatar team for Paris Olympics 2024

Qatar’s No.1 Hindi radio station, Radio Olive 106.3 FM is here with the exciting news as Qatar team for Paris Olympics 2024 has been announced!

The Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11’2024, in Paris, France. This will be the third time Paris hosts Summer Olympics, after previously hosting in 1900 and 1924. Over 10,000 athletes from 206 countries are expected to participate.

The official mascot is a cartoon Phryge, a French beret-wearing rabbit.

Surfing, skateboarding, and sport climbing will make their olympics debuts in Paris.

Over 45,000 Volunteers will be needed to help.

  • Qatari athletes will start to arrive in Paris on 19 July 2024.
  • Mutaz Barsham and Shahad Mohammed have been chosen to hold Qatar’s flag aloft in the inauguration ceremony.
  • Qatar’s accomplishment in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, winning three medals, including two gold medals, has placed the country first among Arab countries in this Olympics.

Qatar’s team has been announced, here is the list;

Shahad Mohamed, It is her first appearance in the games. She previously achieved a time of 55.98 in the 2024 Emir’s Cup. She claimed a bronze medal in 400 m at the 2024 West Asian Championships in Iraq and a silver medal in the 4×400 meter mixed relay, setting a new Qatari record of 3:30:30. She want to win a gold medal in international competitions.

Saeed Abu Sharrb, trap shooter, qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics after winning silver in the men’s individual event at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon, South Korea.

Rashid Saleh Al-Athba, skeet shooter, qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after winning bronze at the 2023 World Shooting Championships in Osijek, Croatia. He also won gold at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships in Changwon, South Korea.

Saif Mohammed has qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics Pole Vault event.

Ammar Ismail is taking part in the 400 m event. 

Bassem Hemeida has won a silver medal in the 2022 Asian Games and a gold medal at the 2023 Arab Athletics Championships. He also won gold in the 400m hurdles at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Abubaker Abdullah,track runner, has previously competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. After dominating the 800m race at the Spanish University Championships with a season’s best time of 1:44.60, the middle-distance runner qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ismail Dawood,hurdles champion, qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics by setting a qualifying time in the 400m hurdles at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix Continental Tour Challenge in South Africa. He has previously won gold at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships for Youth and the 2023 West Asian Championships for Youth.

Abdulrahman Samba won the bronze medal in the 400m hurdles at the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Qatar. After his victory in the 400m hurdles at the 2019 Shanghai Diamond League meeting, with a leading record of 47.27 seconds, he also qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Samba has also won gold at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

Mutaz Barshim is a high jumper from Qatar. He has many winning moments and records added to his long list of achievements, including second-highest jump in history at 2.43m, just one centimetre behind the Cuban Javier Sotomayor’s world record.

Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, beach volleyball duo, have secured a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The team currently holds 15th position globally with 5800 points and is ranked 12th in the Olympic standings with 8560 points. Their Olympic debut was at the Rio 2016 games. They won the bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Games. They also achieved gold medals at the Asian Games in both Jakarta 2018 and Hangzhou 2022.

Fares Ibrahim Hassouna, Qatar’s weightlifting champion, qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after winning silver in the 102 kg category at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships in Saudi Arabia. He previously won gold in the 96 kg category at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, setting an Olympic record with a total weight of 402 kg and also won a gold medal at the Qatar International Weightlifting Cup and competed in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

-Swimmer Abdulziz Al-Obaidli will compete in the 200m breaststroke at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He has previously competed at the 2018 Asian Games and the 2018 World Swimming Championships, has many gold medals to his name at the Gulf level events, and even reached the final of the Asian Youth Championships.
