India Gets Seven Qatar Visa Centers In Major Cities

Citizens of India have many reasons to celebrate as The Ministry of Interior of the State of Qatar has now opened 7 Qatar Visa Centres which cover 7 major cities of India. The Visa centres are functional in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi. These QVCs would greatly facilitate and simplify the recruitment and work visa procedure for Indian expatriates who are travelling to Qatar for work before their arrival in Qatar.

Officials from Qatar and India opens one of the Qatar Visa Center in India 5

The QVCs opening was attended by Maj. Gen. Abdullah Salim Al Ali, advisor at the office of the Minister of Interior of Qatar, Maj. Abdullah Khalifa Al Mohannadi, Director of Visa Supports Services (VSS) Department at the General Directorate of Passports of Qatar, Capt. Nasser Al-Khalaf, Head of Visa Section, Capt. Khalid Al-Nomani, Head of Technical Studies Section from the VSS and a number of government officials from India at the respective locations.

Maj. Abdullah Al Mohannadi said that India is the fourth country to launch Qatar Visa Centers abroad; others include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. These QVC openings are a part of a project to launch 20 service centers in eight countries such as Sri Lanka, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the Philippines, Indonesia and Tunisia. Added advantage would be that this will speed up the expatriates’ residency procedures and their follow-up by the concerned authorities within Qatar.

At the QVCs applicants can avail a number of services including  fingerprinting, biometric data recording, medical examinations and signing of employment contract before their departure to Qatar. This will ensure proper documentation and protection of the rights of both expatriates and employers, as well as documenting the work contract before traveling to Qatar. This will reduce the hassle of return of employee in case s/he is unfit for work and the expatriate can start their work immediately if eligible. Recruitment procedures shifted to the expat’s own country is a great sign of the keenness of the MoI with the expatriates safety at interest.

It is a great step taken by the MoI with respect to the protection and safety of expatriates coming to Qatar for work.

The employer is required to start the initial registration through the website of the Ministry of Interior of Qatar (www.moi.gov.qa) or app of the Interior Ministry ‘Metrash2’. Once the employer has paid the fees in Qatar, the worker can follow up further procedures through Qatar visa centers abroad.

This QVC project to complete recruitment procedures from abroad through Qatar Visa Centers is running  in cooperation between the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maj. Abdullah Khalifa Al Mohannadi added.

Qatar Visa Center maintains robust multi-lingual information services for the benefit of visa applicants across multiple touch points. Information on appointment scheduling, requirements and steps at the visa center can be found in English, Urdu and Arabic through its dedicated website (http://www.qatarvisacenter.com).
