Cold weather can lead to many dental problems including tooth sensitivity, here are some dental care tips you can use during the winter months.
- Brush twice daily. Morning and night before bedtime. Brush properly, gentle in circular motions to remove plaque.
- Use a professional tongue Scraper each morning to get rid of plaque and to freshen breath.
- Treat flossing as important as brushing. It is a way to stimulate the gums, reduce plaque and help lower inflammation in the area.
- It is advise to replace tooth brushes at least every two months. Failure to do this means we are transferring of bacteria to the mouth.
- Drink lots of water. This can help wash out the sticky foods or acidic beverages in the teeth.
- Eat crunchy fruits and vegetables. Vegetables contains healthy fiber which is best to maintain a good oral hygiene. It includes apples,celery,popcorn and raw carrots.
- Limit sugary and acidic foods. Sugars convert into acids eventually leads to cavities.
- Get a dental check up, atleast once every 6 months.
- Plan your child’s dental visit at the right age. A child’s first visit can be before or after 1 st birthday.
- Protect your mouth while playing sports.
