This year is the Qatar-France 2020, Year Of Culture which was inaugurated with a splendid musical act. Read below to know more about all the details and pictures from the marvelous event.
Opening Act At Qatar Museums :
Under the leadership of its Chairperson, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar Museums (QM) held the opening concert of Qatar – France Year of Culture 2020 at the Katara Cultural Village, Opera House.
The opening concert was introduced by His Excellency Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al‑Kawari, Minister of State, and His Excellency Mr. Franck Gellet, Ambassador of France to Qatar. Attendees included Mr. Ahmad Al Namla, CEO of QM and other VIPs.
About Performances :
The stalwart conductor, Marc Piollet was a part of the opening ceremony. Considered as one of the most versatile conductors of present generation, he led the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra to conduct a brilliant programme of French classics. Along with it, QPO performed Camille Saint-Saens’ Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in G Minor, Op. 22, accompanied by Lise de la Salle on the piano.
Furthering on about Marc Piollet, the musician has held many respected positions at leading opera houses around the world. He had conducted many acclaimed performances of Wagner’s complete ring. Along with that, Piollet had also performed new productions including Elekta , Falstaff, Faust among others.
The inaugural concert also saw the performance of Qatari composer Haamed Hussein Naama titled “Doha Secrets Symphony”. About the symphony, The Doha Secrets Symphony symbolises His Highness The Father Amir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s vision for the state of Qatar from its birth to its present place in the world.
An Impressive Inauguration :
As the night progressed into an unforgettable affair, His Excellency Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Minister of State expressed his happiness with the 2 nations partnership.
Ambassador of the Republic of France to the State Of Qatar, the Honorable Franck Gellet also conveyed his regards to the State of Qatar for the exceptional opportunity to celebrate this relationship.
Aisha Ghanem Al Attiya, Head of Year of Culture at QM also commented that the program was the perfect start to the Qatar-France 2020 Year Of Culture. She also added on the many cultural events, exhibitions and festivals everyone is looking forward to for the year.
