This year has been a lesson in variety for Bollywood and it is only half the year gone by. From biopics of rappers to fierce period drama, the hits have been unpredictable in their entertainment factor. As viewers wait with baited breathe for more, we at 106.3 FM Radio Olive bring you a look back at the much appreciated blockbusters of 2019 :
1. URI : A military action film, the movie is a directorial debut of Aditya Dhar and features Vicky Kaushal , Paresh Rawal, Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam. The direction is excellent and Vicky won too many accolades for this one.
2. Manikarnika : Considered as an epic biographical period drama, Kangana Ranaut did not leave any stone unturned to look like the Rani Lakshmi Bai. The movie had great critical acclaim and viewer’s appreciation.
3. Badla : Amitabh Bachchan’s portrayal of a shrewd lawyer opposite Tapsee Pannu’s character is a chemistry no one can miss. There are shots of a very intense interview one just can’t miss.
4. Gully Boy : Inspired by the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy, Zoya Akhtar had the project planned way ahead in her mind. It was premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival and made a space into every teenager’s heart.
5. Kesari : Dharma production’s and Karan Johar had a lot of expectation from this Akshay Kumar starrer. Based on the Battle of Saragarhi, the battle between British Indian Army and Pashtun tribesmen. The intense portrayal of Havaldar Ishar Singh by Akshay was much lauded.
6. Kabir Singh : The Hindi remake of “Arjun Reddy” with Shahid Kapoor as “Kabir” has a story which made every youngster think about Toxic Masculinity and Misogyny. The movie was a huge hit and made quite an impact.
