Ahmed Al-Shahrani has become the first and the fastest para-athlete to cross Qatar by wheelchair, earning himself a Guinness World Record title.
This achievement was recorded as the “Fastest Crossing of Qatar by wheelchair”.
On April 1, Ahmed set forth on his journey at 6pm to travel a 200 kilometre distance, starting from Abu Samra, in the South of Qatar towards the north. He then reached Al Ruwais Port, one of the furthest points in the north of Qatar, on April 3.
Photos of Ahmed during the journey were also shared on the official Instagram account of the Guinness World Records Arabia.
Ahmed covered a total of 200.1 kilometres in 1 day 17 hours and 55 minutes.
In a statement on its website, the Guinness World Records mentioned that “Ahmed Al-Shahrani achieved this record title to honor and encourage the inclusion and participation of people with disability in sports.”
